Nationals Member for the South West Region, Colin Holt, has welcomed the State Government’s new communication campaign to inform and inspire both parents and potential students of the diverse and exciting opportunities offered by Western Australian TAFE courses.
Mr Holt said it was the first time in many years since the entire State Training sector collaborated on an individual campaign. Training and Workforce development Minister Liza Harvey said that TAFE has come a long way over the years. “TAFE now provides some of the most diverse and exciting career training opportunities and we want to ensure the community understands what is available,” she said. “I anticipate the campaign will encourage parents, students and those looking to re -skill to take another look at what our TAFE’s offer and I am certain many will be surprised at the high standard and diversity of career training which is offered in WA.” The “Make a Name” campaign uses former and current students as well as training lecturers to highlight courses offered in industries including aviation, engineering, agriculture, health, children’s services, tourism and fashion. Mr Holt said the campaign would be complimented by a new, easy to navigate website which allows potential students and parents to search career options which can be pursued through TAFE. The website, www.tafechoices.com, will outline the relevant courses and locations the training is offered. “This one-stop-shop style website will allow people to explore career opportunities offered through thousands of courses, in a range of industries across all our TAFE’s,” Mr Holt said.
