Chair of the Great Eastern Highway Road Safety Alliance, Mr Cam Dumesy said “We are excited by the opportunity to work with the Farmsafe WA Alliance, to develop a joint approach to road safety within the Wheatbelt community." Mr Dumesy has a long association with road transport and logistics across Australia in a number of industries. He added “GEHRSA recognised that the Farmsafe WA Alliance play a unique and very important role supporting the farming industry with information, combined with long term commitment to rural communities.
GEHRSA was formed following on from the Wheatbelt Highway review as an important collaboration of organisations to bring together road users including local shires, transport industry groups and road safety authorities to help develop effective local road safety solutions along this major transport route. GEHRSA is working hard to lead change and embed safer road use.
The 2017 Wheatbelt Road and Farm Safety Forum will provide up to date important information on your responsibilities, with practical take-home solutions that participants
can implement the next day. We will be learning how to respond to an accident or emergency, as well as presentations about general road laws such as Chain of Responsibility Legislation, Dangerous Goods, Farm Safety and First Aid.
Mr Dumesy said “This Road and Farm Wheatbelt Safety Forum is not going to be a Talk Fest! The ‘take home’ for anyone attending is information and practical tips that they can pick up and use straight away.”
Farmsafe WA has been providing leadership and support regarding on-farm safety to the Western Australian farming industry since 1994. Farmsafe WA is committed to working with GEHRSA on this very worthwhile initiative.
Chairman of the Farmsafe WA Alliance Mike Norton said “We are committed to working together to provide leadership and practical solutions for everyone in the farming industry and rural communities. Farmsafe WA ran a pilot workshop in 2016 with more than 180 attendees. The feedback received was that the 2016 Wheatbelt Safety Forum was very valuable, so we are teaming up with GEHRSA to make it bigger and better in 2017.”
