During National Volunteer Week in May 2022 thanks to grant funding from Volunteering WA we were able to take the time to recognise some of the valued Volunteers that have supported the Greenbushes CRC over the years.
We are very thankful and appreciative of our Volunteers who are people of our community and without them the Greenbushes CRC would not be here today.
When asked why they volunteer:
"I enjoy volunteering because I feel an increased sense of value. I enjoy volunteering for organisations that empower communities and make a difference to the people in those communities. That is why I choose to volunteer for community organisations like the school council and the CRC and community events like the Pink Fun Run. You also get to meet people in your community, learn more about them and socialise with them on the way." (Dr Lyn Vernon - Current CRC Committee member)
"When I moved to Greenbushes, the degree of positive community engagement really appealed to me. I attended community meetings, and with my public work experience, I offered to help on working parties and committees including the CRC Management Committee. The CRC is an essential contributor to the Greenbushes community. I helped with Committee issues and practical roles including recruitment, training, policy and procedures. Greenbushes is a unique town in a beautiful landscape. I was very proud to be a part of that quality-of-life factor in the town. Thank You Greenbushes for welcoming me. " (Trevor Riley - former GCRC Committee Member)
"I have been volunteering all my life. It is the best and easiest way to meet people, connect and build community, do things you like, learn share and grow. I moved to Greenbushes two years ago. I have been volunteering with the Greenbushes Community Garden and helped establish Greenbushes Acoustic, our local music club. I also joined the Management Committees of the Greenbushes CWA Belles, the Greenbushes CRC and GROW Greenbushes, our local progress association. Volunteering is wonderful! What you give and contribute as a volunteer is returned a hundred-fold and you have lots of fun along the way!. The picture shows me delivering a workshop at our community garden on 'How to make Chutney'. (Irma Lachmund - current GCRC Committee Member)
